Many peolpe who bought their Super Nintendos, several years ago
already have this game. Any one who purchased the awesome SNES in the
last three or so years, don't. The story picks up where Mario 3 (NES
or SNES) left off. After beating Bowser, Mario and Luigi take a well
deserved vacation to a place called Dinosaur Land. But while Mario
and Luigi are taking in the sun...Princess Toadstool (GASP) is
kidnapped (another GASP). After searching the forest for hours (ofcorse I don't know why they would search the forest :-) ) they came
across an enormous egg. All of a sudden a dinosuar popped out and
explained his name was Yoshi. He told them that Bowser had kidnapped
his friends...So the journey begins.
Graphics [7/10]:
When the game came out, it had the best looking graphics. But as time
progressed and more technological games were realeased it slipped
down. The graphics on this game are still good though. Very smooth and
some good special effects. However, there is nothing fancy or dazzling
to this game...at least compared to newer games.
Music and Sound [8/10]:
The sound is fairly good. From the sound of Mario jumping on the
goomba's heads, to the >Ba-wow< sound of Yoshi's tounge, the sound
effects are great, but that gets repetitive after a while, and you
forget that they're even there.
Music on the other hand is great. The tunes are laid back and catchy.
It won't be long after playing this game, until you realize your
whistling these tunes!
Game Play 9/10:
Super Mario World is, simply put, a fun game. The controls are simple
and easy to use, and there are many "power-ups" in the game. For
example...Mario can Fly using the power of the Feather. He can shoot
Fire Balls at enemies by using a Flower. While riding Yoshi, he can
"Lick up" enemies, and throw them back out. This game combines
everything you liked about the NES Mario Bros. with new technology, to
give you some really good Game Play.
Challenge and Replay [8/10]:
There isn't a great amount of challenge in this game. There are a few
secret levels that I found hard, but it wasn't terribly difficult.
Replay is great! After beating Bowser, you can still go to and play
almost any level (to play boss levels press the R+L buttons) After
playing this game, you'll realize that you'll want to go back to these
beautiful levels!
Conclusion/Overall [8/10]:
This is one of the great Super Nintendo games. Anyone can play it, and
have fun with it. Good news is that Nintendo recently re-released it
as their 'Players-Choice' games, and you can find it in many stores.
Just play it, and you'll know what I'm talking about.
